American Gateways is committed to serving our clients and the community. Our services are open to everyone who meets our income guidelines and case priorities.

Our legal team specializes in providing assistance with asylum applications for individuals fleeing persecution, VAWA petitions for victims of domestic violence, and T and U Visas for survivors of trafficking and violent crimes. We also help clients obtain permanent residency, naturalization, DACA renewals, and family-based petitions.
All of our offices see clients by appointment only.

Screening Process

To apply for a consultation at our Austin office, please call the number above in the second full week and fourth week of the month, Monday – Thursday from 9 AM – 5 PM.

Please call until you speak with a person. We cannot return messages about applications for services.

A representative will take basic information about the services you need to complete the application.

Our attorneys will review the applications and our capacity for new clients, and we will let you know the week following your screen if we can schedule a consultation on your case.

To apply for a consultation at our San Antonio office, please call the number above Monday - Friday between 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

If you call outside of these hours or do not reach someone, leave a voicemail with your name and number and we will return your call during answering hours.

Our attorneys will review the applications and our capacity for new clients, and we will let you know within 30 days if we can schedule a consultation on your case. If you do not hear from us within 30 days, that means we are not able to take on your case.

Deportation and Removal Proceedings
If you or someone you know is facing deportation or is currently in immigration detention, please call the Deportation Crisis Hotline at (512) 270-1515.

If you or someone you know is in removal proceedings at the San Antonio Immigration Court, please call our hotline at (210)-864-2917. Through our PAPA Services, we offer legal orientation to unrepresented individuals from Monday to Thursday, 7:30 AM to noon, at the San Antonio Immigration Court. Please note that American Gateways does not provide legal advice, and receiving assistance through this service does not imply that you are being represented by our staff, pro bono volunteers, or any other representatives.
