Prominent Texas advocates for migrants who seek political asylum plan to call on Congress to investigate and end the historically unprecedented isolation of thousands of asylum seekers—including children—across the border in Mexico. American Gateways, which provides legal help to asylum seekers across 23 Central Texas counties, will join groups making this call.

WHO: Co-hosted by Alto MPP, American Gateways, Texas Civil Rights Project, Texas Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, Interfaith Welcome Coalition, Grassroots Leadership, HIAS, MOVE San Antonio, and UT Amnesty International. Speakers will include Rabbi Mara Nathan from Temple Beth-El in San Antonio and representatives of MOVE San Antonio and the University of Texas School of Law Immigration Clinic.

The rally and press opportunity will be followed by a march from outside the immigration court to the Immigration Annex Building at 106 S. St. Mary‘s St. Concerns will be aired about the government’s unlawful Remain In Mexico program–which is now in effect at five Texas-Mexico border crossings.
