The American Gateways Annual Gala 2010

Our Annual Gala -- including the presentation of our Leading Voices Awards -- is Austin's signature event celebrating leaders who strengthen our community's legal safety net and make a difference in the lives of immigrants.

This year's celebration and gala fund-raiser was Wednesday, June 2nd at Austin's magnificent Long Center for the Performing Arts.

Applaud our Leading Voice Award winners.

The board of directors presented the Leading Voice Awards in recognition of outstanding leadership in the legal and refugee communities - one award for an individual Leading Voice who makes a difference each day in the lives of the people served by American Gateways, and an organizational Leading Voice award for outstanding leadership for a business or organization.

This year's Leading Voices Award winners are:

  • Jeannie Rollo.  Jeannie Rollo has been an advocate for access to legal services for the poor, and an advocate for immigrants, for years.  She has led the American Gateways board of directors in years past, and has served as Executive Director of the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas since 1998.
  • AILA.  The Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.  Attorneys and law firms who serve immigrants bring honor to their profession.   AILA provides services to immigration lawyers and coordinates joint efforts among attorneys.  AILA has always been active protecting and promoting the human rights of immigrants.
